Wow, what a couple of weeks in the cyber security world!

It all started last week when the U.S. government made the announcement that any cyber attack on a company in the U.S. would be treated as an Act of War.  Well that got the world hacking groups working.  Why, you may ask?  To prove that they could.  At first it was another attack on Sony, then Nintendo, and so on.  Late last week it was several defense contractors.  Then Google itself, and most recently Citi.

A group called Lulz (laugh out loud) took responsibility for it and said that it would make the information that had been taken from the companies public to prove that they had indeed done the dirty deed so to speak.  What information you may ask.  Well, in some cases it is account logins and passwords, some email login and passwords.  And, lastly, in the case of Sony there is Credit Card information that has been taken.  Citi Bank alone has admitted to 200,000 accounts that have been

Now today, some good news of sorts.  Span has arrested 3 people that they say are part of the group that has caused some of the hacking.  So, as I am sure, this story will go on and on.

What does it mean to you?  Well I think that it has been proven that there is a group of people that if they desire can get any information that they want.  If these major companies have not hardened their networks shame on them.  But, I am afraid that it is like the locks on our houses.  They work to keep the honest people honest.  If someone wants it they will get it.

Keep in touch.  I’ll add to this as it unfolds further
